Main Window

- New server window button
- Opens a new server window, ready to connect to your default server.
- Configuration button
- Opens the configuration window.
- Server list button
- Opens the server list.
- Script editor button
- Opens the script editor.
- Reload scripts button
- Unloads all scripts, then reloads the scripts listed on the scripts configuration page.
- Tile button
- Arranges all visible child windows in a rectangular grid.
- Cascade button
- Arranges all visible child windows in an overlapping format.
- Inflate button
- Inflates all child windows, making them take up the entire client area.
- Exit button
- Disconnects from all servers and closes ViRC.
- "Desktop"
- This is where the wallpaper appears. All child windows are confined to the desktop.
- Child windows
- Server, channel, query, DCC chat, and whiteboard windows are called child windows because they are confined to the main ViRC window (the parent window). Clicking a child window's minimize button hides the window. You can switch between child windows by pressing Ctrl+Tab, using the Window menu, or clicking buttons on the Window tab bar.
- Inactive tab
- Inactive tabs appear flat and in the regular taskbar color; they represent child windows that you are not currently using. Inactive tabs change to a highlighted color when new text appears in the child windows.
- Active tab
- Active tabs appear indented. Only one tab is active at once, and it represents the child window that you are currently using.
- Hidden tab
- Hidden tabs appear in a disabled color. Hidden tabs represent child windows that are have been hidden, and they change to a highlighted color when new text appears.
- Window tab bar
- The tab bar has buttons for each open child window. Tabs for channel and query windows are grouped with the tab for the server that owns them. Single-clicking a button activates the window, double-clicking it hides the window, and clicking with the right button shows a popup menu.
- Status bar
- The status bar shows informative messages such as non-fatal errors and menu item hints.
